Due to the forecasted adverse weather conditions, and adhering to KHDA guidelines, the school will be closed tomorrow. We will move to distance learning and details have been sent via email.

From Mother`s Day cards and vibrant chalk parties to eco-chic `Trashion` shows, our Early Years students dazzled. Meanwhile, our Primary students wowed us with their innovative `Book in a Box` projects. And let`s not forget our talented Secondary students - the Grade 12 IB art students showcased their artistic prowess at the IBDP art exhibition, and the Junk Kouture dress that earned our Grade 8 students a place in the World Finals in Monaco. What a term!

A fabulous opportunity for our IBCP students! Last week, some of our Grade 11 students undertook work experience at the iconic Burj Al Arab hotel, as part of their BTEC Level 3 Advanced Business Management and Hospitality course option. The students enjoyed a week of shadowing in the concierge, reservations office, hotel spa and housekeeping departments, allowing them to experience the "best in class" hospitality. Thank you to the team at the Burj AL Arab for hosting our students.
Lisa Bardin, our IBCP Co-ordinator commented "Experiencing hands-on work in such an iconic and prestigious establishment like the Burj Al Arab hotel is invaluable, especially for those pursuing a career in business management and hospitality. Shadowing in various departments gives them a well-rounded understanding of the industry and a glimpse into the day-to-day operations of a world-class hotel."

Our Grade 8 & 9 students enjoyed an action-packed trip to Sri Lanka last week!
They spent plenty of time in nature, including Royal Forest Park and the Elephant trail. Our students had informative cultural visits like the Temple of the Tooth and the Kosgada Turtle Sanctuary where they had the chance to help release turtles into the sea! The white water rafting was certainly one of the highlights, in addition to playing cricket with students at the local school they visited.

Celebrating International Children`s Book Day with two remarkable authors from our school community:
Grade 9 student Hailey Barnard shared the inspiring journey of `Butterfly Brave`, where young Angelina discovers daily inspiration and hope in the beauty of nature. Meanwhile, Arabic teacher Ms. Sanaa wrote about the power of human emotion in `My Friend, the Robot`.

Our Grade 7 students are back from their adventure in Kenya!
They rolled up their sleeves to assist local farmers and the local school where they helped paint, build and make donations to the students and staff. They had the unique opportunity to dive into the local culture through food, learning Swahili and meeting the Maasai tribe who shared with them insight into their way of life.
Our students also had the chance to hike Marungu Hill, go on a safari to experience Kenya`s wildlife and get to know their peers and teachers in a different context.
This trip provided invaluable lessons in empathy, cultural understanding, and global citizenship, making it an important chapter in their lives that they`ll likely remember forever!

Grade 6, 7, and 8 students from our bilingual classes joined forces with peers from the International School of Lausanne, Switzerland, for a dynamic Forum discussion last week, in honour of Francophonie week.
Together, they delved into topics centered around this year`s theme: `Créer, innover, Entreprendre en Français`.
From brainstorming on creativity to exploring innovation, they explored how it all intertwines with the French language.

As part of the Fruitful Community Initiative this Ramadan, SISD students and parents served 2,500 warm Iftar meals and 10,000 fruit portions to a community of construction workers, gardeners and delivery drivers at their home in Al Quoz.
Our Primary student volunteers took the lead in handing out the biryani meals, distributing the fruit bags and water, and wishing everyone Ramadan Kareem.
