Our students in Early Years have been enjoying a host of 'free flow' activities, as part of our emphasis on child-led play. Free flow allows children to find their own strengths, and offers them a level of freedom and choice in their learning. This type of independent learning also develops student stability, spacial awareness, co-ordination and agility, and enhances creativity and imaginative thinking.

And that’s a wrap for our 2023 Sports Day, concluding with our Grades 9, 10, 11 and 12 students today. A great buzz of activity around the field, lots of clapping, cheering and excitement! Students participated in agility courses, long jump, shotput, springs, relays, and the finale of the 100m race. Well done to all our students!

Parent Workshop - As part of our continued focus on mental health and well-being, we will be welcoming Barry Cummings, one of the founders of "Beat the Cyberbully" initiative which provides education, awareness and training on online and mobile topics and promotes safe, responsible and inspiring online communication.
The event will take place on Tuesday, January 31st at 8 am. All parents are welcome to attend.

A fantastic result for our Secondary swim team today in the Dubai Schools Gala at @hamdansc. The team achieved a host of medals, and finished in 2nd place across all Dubai schools! Well done, team IBEX. 👏 @speedoswimsquads_uae
Our Grade 5 students have created a "Book in a Box", based on the story "Holes" by Louis Sacher. This initiative is part of a competition for the forthcoming Emirates Literature Festival, with new author talks, workshops, special events and more. In 'Book in a Box,' students illustrate a journey of visual storytelling and our students have displayed their ingenuity and imagination beautifully.
The events take place at the Intercontinental in Festival City and the Mohammed Bin Rashid Library from 1-6 February 2023. All SISD families are invited to attend.

Sustainable Food Truck Designs! As part of their IB design project, Grade 10 students have designed, and are creating, innovative food truck prototypes using sustainable products to cater to people with different tastes or dietary requirements. We cannot wait to see what their completed prototypes will look like!

Our young engineers! The students in Grade 4 STEAM class had an exciting lesson designing and building thrilling rides for a theme park this week. Their recent field trip to MOTIONGATE was their inspiration, and the lesson was a opportunity for them to experience and understand the full design process. Next week, the students will start creating their own design in preparation for this year’s STEAM Fair.

We absolutely loved our KG2 Sports Day! Our students and families enjoyed a very active and fun sports day this morning: the students rode, jumped, played, raced, cheered, competed - a very noisy and sporty event! Our students particularly enjoyed racing against their parents, and cheered very loudly to support their parents during the parent race!

On Wednesday, our Secondary Sustainability Representatives visited the Firetti Contemporary Gallery in Alserkal Avenue to gain inspiration for our own piece of artwork.
They met Mara Firetti, the founder of the gallery, who presented some of the inspiring work that has been exhibited in her gallery, that all have messages about environmental issues around the world.
They were also very lucky to have the opportunity to view the multi-sensory exhibition by Her Highness Sheikha Maytha Bint Obaid Al Maktoum.
They are now excited to start planning for, and working together with, the whole SISD community to create a piece of artwork for both our Primary Reception area and Secondary Atrium.
