Growing up in The Netherlands, I always wanted to travel and so I did. I became an expat: I got married, had children and lived in countries all over the world. When my son was in kindergarten in Switzerland, they told me that he was like a Duracell Battery. Eventually he was ‘diagnosed’ as both dyslexic and ADHD. In the meantime, I completed a Masters in Applied Linguistics and Special Education and also obtained Qualified Teacher Status from University. Before coming to Dubai I worked for international schools in Belgium, Qatar and Singapore. I am happy that I have found my calling. There are so many students that with a little help can and do succeed. As for my son: he is doing his Masters in Mathematics. In my spare time, I like to sail, swim, play (terrible) golf, cook, languages (I am learning Turkish at present) and of course travel.
