Originally from Ireland, it can be difficult to spot my accent, at least any regional one. I have been teaching abroad since 2004 in many countries such as South Korea, Russia, Latvia, Italy and Georgia. I am an active IB educator. I am an active IB coordinator, workshop leader and IB school visit team leader and enjoy working with schools on their individual IB journeys as a consultant. I also still actively examine my subject areas of English and Global Politics for the IB in the Diploma Programme.
I’ve spent the last three years here at SISD arriving before the secondary school opened in August 2016. It has been a pleasure to be part of the SISD journey. We have moved from a four-year MYP programme, to opening grade 10 and getting authorised to administer the MYP eAssessment, the IB Diploma Programme and soon the IB Career-related Programme. Our ability to offer bilingual MYP/DP streams is what makes us unique and challenges us to administer the IB programmes in new ways. I am very proud of the continuous effort and professionalism demonstrated by our dedicated staff and students, and what we have managed to achieve in such a short period of time. I look forward to driving forward the development of our programmes to rival the strongest IB programmes available around the world and to offer our students unique pathways that are difficult to find elsewhere. I have two daughters in the French-English bilingual stream of the Primary Years Programme and have proudly watched them gain confidence in two languages.
