Why the IB?

The IB continuum of programmes are designed to develop well-rounded individuals who can respond to today's challenges with optimism and an open mind.

A Comprehensive and Cohesive Curriculum:

The IB programme at SISD encompasses three distinct programmes: the Primary Years Programme (PYP), the Middle Years Programme (MYP), and the Diploma Programme (DP). These programmes offer a seamless progression, ensuring a cohesive journey for students.

  1. Primary Years Programme (PYP):
The Primary Years Programme caters to students aged 3 to 12 and serves as a solid foundation for future learning. The PYP curriculum focuses on enquiry-based learning, nurturing curiosity, and developing a love for knowledge. Students explore various subject areas, including language, mathematics, science, social studies, arts, and physical education. The PYP curriculum is designed to foster critical thinking, creativity, and an understanding of global issues from a young age.

  2. Middle Years Programme (MYP):
The Middle Years Programme caters to students ages 11 to 16 and builds upon the foundation laid by the PYP. The MYP provides a balanced education that integrates various disciplines and encourages students to make connections between subjects. The curriculum emphasises some key skills to grow in life including thought processes, how they deal with problems, and global mindedness. Students engage in a wide range of subjects, including language and literature, mathematics, sciences, humanities, arts, physical education, and design. The MYP curriculum prepares students for the rigours of the Diploma Programme by developing essential skills and a comprehensive understanding of different academic disciplines.
