My name is Avril Hatch and I am from Ireland. I completed a B.A in History and Irish and then went on to get my Post Graduate Diploma in Primary Education. From the first day I attended school, I always said I was going to be a teacher…it’s in the family blood! I just love that “lightbulb moment” when a student finally grasps something they were struggling with and you’ve helped them get there. I moved to Dubai in 2013 as a teacher and truly believe this is my second home. I transitioned into the IB curriculum in 2015 and have never looked back! I strongly believe in developing internationally minded students who are not afraid to take risks and are prepared for what the ever changing future holds in store for them. I can see the passion in learning that the staff, students and parents of SISD share and I can’t wait to join the team! Outside of school I like to stay active, I enjoy going to the gym, horse-riding and swimming.
