During my studies at the University of Johannesburg, I obtained a degree in Psychology and majored in Inclusive Education. I completed an Honours degree in Psychology after that, as well as a Postgraduate Certificate in Education. I worked at an inclusive school for students with behavioural issues as I completed my PGCE. I moved to a fully specialized Special Needs School in Johannesburg, South Africa before moving to Dubai. I was lucky enough to work with learners with a wide range of needs and diagnosis.
I have been in Dubai for 8 years and I live here with my husband and 2 daughters. Since moving to Dubai, I have taught students from Pre Kindergarten to Secondary, both in and out of the classroom. I have worked with students with both language needs as well as additional learning needs.
I am excited to join the SISD team this year. I believe in the importance of an inclusive, diverse learning environment which provides wonderful opportunities where we can celebrate everyone’s differences. Language is vital in our social, emotional and academic development.
